Chapter One: New Beginnings

The large stone Owl clock sounded 9:00 as crimson shone upon Link's brow. Lost in thought previously, Link gasped in the sweet smell of morning dew; startled. He let out a cry of panic.

"9:00 already!? I'll be late!" he said.

Link gathered up all of his stray papers, stuffing them in his small pack as he ran down the hall; when he saw one of the most stunning sights in all his life. Zelda Voterni: A beacon of physical perfection, and heiress to the Voterni family fortune. Some had said many years ago, about the time of the great wars, that Zelda's ancestors were actually the royal family of Hyrule. Link didn't doubt that. Zelda looked like a princess.

It was then Link realized he had actually stopped in his tracks, and was gawking at Zelda. Very embarrassed. Link continued his previous course, with Zelda giggling behind him.

Link sat on a bench in an ancient wing of the University scrambling to find his current position on a small map of the school, but to no avail.

"Why does this place have to be a damn maze?" Link pouted.

The University had once been a great castle. In fact, it was THE royal castle of Hyrule. But the monarchy fell long ago, and since then the citizen decided instead of tearing down such a beautiful building, it should stand a monument of ancient time, and past knowledge: A perfect place for a college. The walls showed their age, but with a certain kind of relic like ambiance. Frustrated as he was, Link couldn't help but take in this beautiful place's serenity.

"It must have been a garden of some kind." Link thought to himself. The ceiling was open here. Though the ground was covered with bricks, grass was struggling to climb out. Out of the blue, Zelda had just walked around the corner, and into the old garden, with Link staring at her once again.

"Er..." Zelda said hesitantly. She looked confused
Link interrupted. "Lost?" so Zelda wouldn't have to say it.
"Yeah..." she trailed off a bit
"Me too."
"You'd think I would know this place or something, my ancestors having lived here and all."

Link nodded. So it was true! He could just imagine Zelda in an old fashion dress, picking flowers in a small garden long ago.

Zelda waved her hand in front of Link's face. "Hey! Are you awake?"
"Oh!" Link stuttered "Y...yeah. I was just trying to figure out this map of the University"
"With out even looking at the map?" Zelda picked up the map off the floor. "Your good." Link was silent.
"I forgot to introduce myself. I'm Zelda."
Link already knew that, but he obliged by telling her his name "I'm Link"

Something caught Link's eye though, other than Zelda's beauty: It was a door. A wooden door that looked as old as the walls.

"Do you see that?" asked Link
"Oh my god, it's a door! Wow!" She said sarcastically
"No, it wasn't here before." said Link
"Of course it was. You probably just missed it."
"Why? Did you see it before?"
"Well no..." Zelda crossed her arms and looked up, thinking "Maybe is just was blending in with all these drab colors. Its very creepy here."
"Well I'm going to check it out anyway" Link stood up and started for the door. "Care to join me?"
"No thanks. Potential death traps are not my thing."
"Suit yourself. I guess you can stay here alone"
Zelda looked around for a moment. "Okay, I'm coming" She said with a bit of desperation in her voice as she trotted towards Link.

Link opened a door to reveal a staircase spiraling down. Reluctantly the pair went down.

When they reached the bottom there was yet another small wooden door. Again, Link opened it. Behind this door was a large stone room. Filling the walls were faded picture carvings and something written in an old looking language. In the center of the room were 6 marble pedestals, with different insignias carved on each, surrounding a large mound of smooth stone, as if to incase something. Behind that was the main section of the carvings on the wall it seemed. This one held a picture of the triforce: a relic of old lore, and some large text. Zelda went closer to examine the back wall.

"This looks so familiar" She said as she scanned the wall. "Oh my"
"What is it?" asked Link asked as he came in for a closer look.
"Notes... there are notes below this triforce figure."

Just then something shined under Zelda's shirt.

"What's that?" a surprised Link said

Zelda put her hands behind her head to release a previously hidden necklace. She cupped her hands to show it to Link. It was on a gold chain with a small blue jewel as the pendent. Right before Link's eyes it then morphed to a small blue instrument. Zelda pulled it back to her

"What is that? A flute?" Link asked, shocked.
"No, it's an Ocarina, Link"
"I see" Link turned toward the wall "Well go for it."
"Go for what?" Zelda looked puzzled
"Well, play the notes. When there's music on a wall in an old room like this, while a mysterious pendent turns into an instrument, I'd say it's a pretty good sign to play that music"

Zelda nodded, turned to the wall, looked at the notes, and formed the music.
